CAS Card Challenge

It's time for this week's Mark's Finest Papers Friends of Speedy tv challenge. http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/. This week we're making a Clean and Simple card.  I don't usually do this, it's not that I don't like them, it's just that I have too many dies, ribbons, lace, embossing folders, etc, etc, to make a cas card. Thankfully, I did get to use all of that stuff on this card.

Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers - Ice & Snow
Accessories: Dew Drops, Spellbinders dies, embossing folders, Sweet N Sassy lace edge die, glitter, satin ribbon.

Everygreens

For some reason I'm having trouble bringing on my creative mojo! I pull out papers and then change my mind! I did manage to put this card together today, made with the gorgeous new set by Mark's Finest Papers - New Pines. I masked the original image and stamped twice more.
I colored the pines with copic markers and highlighted them with glitter, unfortunately this doesn't show in the picture. I had this Cheery Lynn doily sitting around so I placed it under the trees, which I raised with foam tape. The trees overlap my sentiment (also from the New Pines set) which is raised on a Spellbinder die.  The ribbon across the bottom is black velvet and I embossed the snowflake dp with a snowflake embossing folder. TFL!!

This week's Friends of Speedy TV challenge at Mark's Finest Papers - A Heinrich Co. is a birthday theme, found here: http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/  I originally wanted to make a masculine card but I've fallen in love with this 'Blush Sweet Bouquet' paper by My Mind's Eye and can't use it enough!! I colored the MFP Nuthatch with copic markers and raised with foam tape on Spellbinder scalloped circles and a label die. The lacy edge die is by Sweet N Sassy Stamps, found here: http://www.sweetnsassystamps.com/categories/NEW-Dies/ . I used embossing folders on the designer papers and added black and white gingham ribbon.
Hope you have a great day!!

I made this for this week's sketch and it also fits the color challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/.  I've been excited to use this beautiful Mark's Finest Papers basket of leaves (Autumn Fun) http://www.marksfinestpapers.com/servlet/the-Stamp-Sets/Categories and these were the perfect challenges for it. I heat embossed and colored with Tombow markers and raised each layer with foam tape for dimension.
I added Magnolia lace edge dies on both sides of the corregated piece and the sentiment is on two Verve label dies. The rest of the dies are Spellbinders. Thanks for looking and God Bless!!

This is my first challenge as a member of the Friends of Speedy Cat Design Team, so exciting! Our challenge this week is to make a masculine card, join us here: http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/.
I admit that I have a hard time not adding flowers to cards, even masculine ones, do dandelions count as flowers? lol!! I thought I'd make them a subtle backdrop for the butterfly.  I heat embossed the image and colored with copics, I added a pre-corregated panel and a brick wall embossing folder. The beautiful dandelion, butterfly, and sentiment are all by Mark's Finest Papers, http://www.marksfinestpapers.com/servlet/StoreFront.
Thanks for taking a look!

It's been a while since I posted to the blog, work has been really hectic and I've been thankful just to get a couple cards made it the last couple weeks.
I made this for the Verve October week 1 sketch.  I heat embossed this Verve verse and made a homemade flower (spritzed with water and scrunched) with the Verve Floral Circles dies and Leafy Sprigs. The vertical lace in newsprint was made with a Magnolia lace edge die and the bottom lace threaded with seam binding ribbon is a Marianne lace edge die.
I've been excited to use this Authentique dp and embossed with embossing folders.

As I reflect on this beautiful sunny day, that so completely changed the course of our history as a nation so completely ten years ago, I feel so proud to be an American, and feel such warmth and compassion for all those that have lost loved ones these past ten years. God bless America, our thoughts and prayers are with you!

I've been a bit lazy this weekend and figured I'd better get this card posted for this week's My Favorite Things sketch challenge. I got this sweet PI image at the end of last fall and haven't got to use it much, so it was fun to ink it up again!  I heat embossed her and the sentiment with sparkly black, which gives it all a nice shimmer, not always visible in the photos. She's watercolored with Tombow markers and I layered her on several Spellbinder dies, each with foam tape for lots of dimension. I always love the way stitching looks on cards and though my sewing machine doesn't work very well, I added a little border stitching here. All of the My Mind's Eye designer papers are embossed with embossing folders and I added a My Favorite Things lace edge die (purple) and lace made with a Martha Stewart edge punch (white).  I can't resist the seam binding ribbon, and added an orange bow here.

Here's another card, this one for this week's Sweet & Sassy sketch challenge.  It was love at first site when I saw this gorgeous jay image!! I think it was the berries that made me go toward the Christmas card idea, I used embossing folders and added a button with leaves to mimick the image. The image is heat embossed and colored with Tombow markers.
Along the bottom I added Martha Stewart everygreen edge punch, scalloped edge punch, and seam binding ribbon bow.
Such a beautiful week here in Tacoma, Washington, I think summer finally came!! Here it's my day off and I want to stay inside and make cards, shame on me!! I wanted to take a little time and post this card that I made for several challenges on Splitcoaststampers.com.
The flowers were made with SU So Saffron yellow and My Mind's Eye kraft printed dp.  I spritzed the layers with water, scrunched, and sponged with rust ink.  The flower centers were made with a Stampin Up flower punch.  The branches and lace edge punch are Martha Stewart and the leaves and flowers are Spellbinders dies.

It's time for the weekly Verve sketch challenge again and I've been having such a great time with all of the new Verve goodies!! This new Verve flower set called 'Sunny Days' is one of my favorites and the leaf die really makes it easy to cut out a lot of foliage. I heat embossed and colored the flowers with Tombow markers and layered with foam tape. There's a couple layers of Verve labels under each flower that were embossed with embossing folders.  The verse is also heat embossed and lightly overstamped with a stamp from the 'Tag Time' Set and cut out with the matching tag die.
The sweet background paper is by My Little Shoebox and the lace is a Martha Stewart edge punch.
God Bless, DJ

I've been back from vacation for a couple of days, and have enjoyed using my new paper by Authentique.  I made two cards, the first is for the My Favorite Things challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com
I heat embossed this Pure Innocence image with sparkly black and colored with Tombow markers.  All of the dp is embossed with embossing folders and I added My Favorite Things lace edge die to the top and bottom.
My second card for today was made for the Splitcoaststampers.com weekly sketch challenge and I chose to use the Stampin Up Young Vermillion stamp to go with the elegant paper.  I love adding foam tape to each layer under the image, it give so much dimension!!

I sure have been enjoying this seam binding ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique on Etsy.com, so many beautiful colors, I added chocolate and pink here.

Okay, so I'm finally getting around to starting a blog. I've always been interested in creating art, not the posting on the web, so here it goes!!

I just got these beautiful stamps from Verve, this is made with the Thankful Accents wreath and the sentiment is from the New Mercies set.  I heat embossed the images with sparkly black and layered on spellbinders nesties with foam tape under each layer.

The embossed background was created by coloring the embossing folder with chocolate chip ink pad and embossing. The seam binding is from Prairie Bird Boutique on Etsy.com
