Here's a close up of the paper piercing

ODBDSLC #182 - Alternate Fold

Happy Tuesday everyone!! The Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge is to create a card with an alterante fold or 3D(other than traditional top or side fold), please join us here for all of the details.

I might have cheated a bit here, I went for more of an alternate shape than an alternate fold, but I saw this wonderful stable card on Splitcoast Stampers and I was dying to combine it with my favorite Baby Jesus stamp by ODBD. I used a white pigment ink pad instead of white paint and added a swag at the top and bottom.

When contemplating this challenge, this adorable little chickadee from the ODBD You Will Take Refuge set came to mind, I needed a sentiment that would fit on these small squares, so I pulled out a greeting from the ODBD Holly Wreath set. The bird was colored with Copics and all of the designer paper from the ODBD Christmas Paper Collection 2013 was embossed, distressed and sponged. The squares were all framed with a small Spellbinders scalloped square and a flourish die from the ODBD Custom Fancy Foilage Die set was placed behind the greeting with a twine bow and cherry button.

The Friends of Speedy TV challenge this week is Anything Goes!, join us here for a chance to win a stamp set and for all of the details on the latest challenge.

A challenge where anything goes sounded very exciting, but it made my mind whirl with all of the possibilities! I decided to go away from my normal, which is tons of color and coloring, and brought out this adorable lady from the Mark's Finest Papers - Out on the Town set. I took her to my son and asked if I could color her, but he said no, she looked great as is, sigh, no coloring! I found this card stock paper at Michaels and let it do all the work, just doing some distressing and sponging. I cut the Cheery Lynn flourish so that it would show on both sides of the image and added a large scallop trim.

My card speaks for itself on which song I chose, this set couldn't be more perfect!! I really wanted to use an unusual Christmas color for this beautiful nativity and thought I would add just a touch of lavendar, ok, maybe a lot!! Happy Tuesday everyone!! The Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge is to create a card with no ribbons or lace, please join us here for all of the details.

For this week's challenge I decided to make a masculine card. The moose was heat embossed and watercolored with distress markers then layered on many Splellbinder dies. My original sketch reflected the pine bows wrapping around the right side, but in the end I thought this would be too heavy, so I pulled out this wonderful flourish from the Custom Fancy Foliage die set which gives it a lighter look. I love this wonderful proverb, perfect for my husband or my Father.

ODBDSLC #175 - Fall

Happy Tuesday everyone!! The Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge is to create a fall card, please join us here for all of the details.

I wanted to make something today that wasn't my traditional fall orange, so I went to my designer paper scrap box, it's full of great ideas. I found this muted yellow dp and pulled out the Stampin Up Summer Starfruit cs for the base. I have to admit that I've been a little bit obsessed with reverse embossing lately, and for today's card I inked up my embossing folder with white pigment ink and embossed black card stock to make a strip across the middle, keeping my leaf bouquet small to show it off. I'm loving this sweet ODBD squirrel image and watercolored him in warm rust after heat embossing and framing him and the sentiment with Spellbinder dies. Under the seam binding bow I used a couple of the leaves from the ODBD Custom Fall Leaves and Acorn set and also a small leaf from the SB mini leaves set.

Happy Tuesday everyone!! The Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge is to create your own background on your project, please join us here for all of the details.

I love it when I find images that have extra goodies that can be taken out and expanded, that's the way this beautiful ODBD church is. It has two perfect little trees that I used to expand my horizon! First off, I watercolored the bg with reinkers, waterpen and watercolor paper. I stamped the image several times to get layering for my project along with the extra trees I would need. All are heat embossed with a sparkly black that gives the card a little extra shimmer and were watercolored with reinkers and layered with foam tape accross the Spellbinder label. I added a little extra Christmas cheer with sprigs from the ODBD Custom Fancy Foliage die set, a couple tiny SB holly dies and a seam binding bow with button tied with twine bow. I know it's a little early, but it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!

ODBDSLC #172 - Anything Goes!

Happy Tuesday everyone!! The Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge is Anything Goes, please join us here for all of the details.

My choice for the anything goes challenge was based on my excitement to use this gorgeous bird by Our Daily Bread Designs, truthfully, I had intended to make him a blue jay, but then I bought this beautiful Christmas dp and he turned into a cardinal, I'm not sure why there can't be a Christmas bluejay, but it just doesn't seem right!
I started out by making a frame for the bird with the small pine cone from the Sing For Joy set, all the images were heat embossed and watercolored with reinkers. In the top corner I've added the lovely ODBD Custom Decorative Corners die and in the bottom corner I added some sprigs from the ODBD Fancy Foliage set, Spellbinder ivy, small circle punch for berries, a seam binding ribbon bow, and a chocolate button tied with striped twine.

ODBDSLC171 - Fall Colors

Happy Tuesday everyone!! The Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge is to make a project with fall colors, please join us here for all of the details.

My husband just walked in carrying bags of steak, he proudly displayed the two roasts he had bought and I got excited that it's almost time to cook inside again, I've missed the smell of slow roasted food in the oven!! I have to say that I love fall! The beautiful trees, crisp air, the excitement of pulling out my leather jacket and boots, football, and coming home from church on Sunday to the smell of roast filling the house!!

For my fall colors card, I chose to watercolor this wonderful ODBD Pumpkin, the die catches all of the intricate details and makes it so easy to pop up on my chocolate colored burlap. Behind the burlap are two of the new Custom Decorative Corner Dies, I made them in tangy orange to liven up my wood grain dp. For the leafy swag at the bottom, I started with the branch and lacey leaf from the Custom Fancy Foliage Die set, and the small leaves are from the Spellbinder Little Leaf Set, it's all topped off with three different twine bows and a large chocolate button. Oh, yah, pumpkin pie is another reason to love fall!!

Friends of Speedy TV challenge #87 - Use Metal

The Mark's Finest Papers Friends of Speedy TV challenge this week is to use metal on a card, join us here for a chance to win a stamp set.
I pulled out some old Stampin Up antique hardware to accent my adorable sand dollar that's laying on the boardwalk (I promise I'll put him back in the water!) I inked up only the 'sand dollar' from the sentiment and placed it in the metal frame which is attached with brads. The hinge is also attached with a metal brad and satin ribbon wrapped around the edge of the card. A touch of gray copic marker was added around the edge of the sand dollar to make the white really pop.

Mark's Finest Papers stamps: Sand Dollar
Other Supplies: SU hardware (retired), satin ribbon, embossing folders, copic marker, large scallop border die, foam tape.

Many Blessings,
DJ

Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge #167

This week we have a third sketch for the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge, check it out here. I'm so excited this week, I decided to make you all some peach perserves, this was my first try so hopefully it tastes ok, lol! I envisioned the panels as shelves where I can store these deliscious jars of Georgia peach goodness and you'll be excited to see that I won a blue ribbon for my effort (at least in my own mind)! There's a touch of Cheery Lynn lace doily border under the jars and the peach cardstock underneath is embossed and lightly colored with an ink pad. The blue ribbon is made with Spellbinder circle and scalloped circle and a little banner die.

Our Daily Bread Designs: Blue Ribbon Winner

Other Supplies:
Spellbinder circle and scalloped circle dies, banner die, embossing folder, foam tape, gingham ribbon, Cheery Lynn lace border die, pearl stickers, copic markers.

ODBDSLC #166

Hope you're having a blessed week with lots of warm summer weather! Unless you're tired of warm weather, then I hope it's cool and refreshing where you are!

We have a really beautiful and challenging sketch this week for the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light challenge. Hop on over and join us, all the details are here.
I knew immediately that I wanted to ink up this pretty watering can and colored it with Inktense watercolor pencils and a water pen, then added glitter glue to the flower centers and the butterflies. I wanted to be able to see the satin ribbon underneath the bow, so I placed it sideways and accented the bottom with a lace border die.

Our Daily Bread Designs images used: Happy Birthday

Other Supplies:
embossing folders, doily die, satin ribbon, foam tape, Inktense pencils, water pen, glitter glue, lace border die.

Friends of Speedy TV challenge #85 - Glitter

The Friends of Speedy TV challenge this week is to make a card with glitter, join us here for a chance to win a stamp set.
They've started stocking the poinsettias in the craft store that are covered in glitter, so when I found out about the glitter challenge, I immediately had the idea to make a Christmas card with the beautiful Mark's Finest Papers Poinsettia from the Poinsettia Blooms set. The blooms are heat embossed and watercolored with reinkers and waterpen, then layered over a sentiment mounted on Spellbinder ovals and decorative oval. Here's a closer shot of my glittery flower centers.

Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers - Poinsettia Blooms
Accessories: embossing folders, Spellbinder ovals, corregated cardstock, glitter glue, reinkers, water pen, foam tape.
