Verve Sketch and Inspiration Challenge

I made this card for the Verve November Sketch 2 and the Inspiration Challenge

I also used the Verve Beyond Measure for the Second November sketch, as well as the Inspiration Challenge, this nativity is so adorable!  I added lots of texture with embossing folders, as well as some sponging.

Verve November Sketch

I'm participating in the November Verve sketch.

For the first November sketch I chose the three kings and star from the Verve Beyond Measure stamp set.  I sponged a holly die and added large glitter for a sparkly effect.

Bear it

I converted the sketch to a square, my favorite card shape, and added the adorable bear from the MFT BB Polar Bear Pals stamp set.  I started with a large stitched square made with the Blueprints 8 Die-namics, stamped with a MFT Background stamp.   The snowy strip was made with vellum paper and stamped with white pigment ink.  I cut out snowflakes from the Let it Snowflake Die-namics and the Pierced Fancy Flourish Die-namics out of water color paper and sponged them with die ink then added lots of chunky glitter.  The white accent dots were made with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White.

Snowman and Friend

I'm playing along in the My Favorite Things Sketch 305.

I created a snowy scene on a MFT Double Stitched Oval Stax Die-namics in Kraft after stamping the piece with the MFT Gingham Background stamp. The snowman and friend are from the Cooler With You Card Kit.  The greeting is from the BB Santa's Elves set on a tag from the Blueprints 21 Die-namics. Other Die-namics used are Stitched Scallop Edges, Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner Stax, and Blueprints 8,  Birch Trees.  The holly is by Cottage Cutz.

ODBD Color Challenge

Our Daily Bread Designs has a pretty color challenge this month.

I ended up using all of the colors, but you can use as few as 3 if you like.

I heat embossed the ODBD Baby Jesus and colored him with SU markers.  The image is mounted on the Filigree Frames Dies.  I had lots of fun making the poinsettias using the Peaceful Poinsettia Dies, adding some distressing and chunky glitter.  The foliage was made with the Lovely Leaves Dies.

I'm playing in a couple My Favorite Things challenges today.
The first is this week's sketch 304.

Today I got a chance to play with the new MFT Cooler With You Card Kit, it has so many cute images!  The background was stamped with the Garden Flourish BG and I used the Double Stitched Oval Stax Die-namics to cut out by snowy scene.  The snow was created with the Snowfall -Horizontal Die-namics, the hills with Card Kit, and the birch is from the Birch Tree Die-namics.  The snowflake accent was made with the Let it Snowflake, Vintage Buttons, and a drop of Nuvo Gloss White.  The greeting is from the Cool Day set on a tag from Blueprints 18

The second challenge is a color challenge.

The large panel was cut out with the stitched square from the Blueprints 8 Die-namics and stamped with the Lined Up Dots BG.  The center circle was cut out with the Zig Zag Stitched Oval Stax, and the scene was made with Snowfall -Horizontal Die-namics, Snow-Capped Mountains, Winter Trees, and Stitched Whimsical Waves. I added a flower made with Modern Blooms stamp set, Deer Friend Die-namics, and Leafy Greenery.  The image and greeting are from the Deer Friends set.

Bear in the Forest

I'm participating in the My Favorite Things Sketch 291.

For the sketch I used the MFT Forest Friends stamp set and colored the bear with copics.  The background forest was created with a water color and the Die-namics Birch Trees, on the Die-namics Stitched Rectangle STAX, and the matt was made with the Die-namics Pinking Edge Rectangle STAX. The designer paper is from the MFT Subtle Plaids Paper Pack cut out with the Blueprints 8 Stitched Square and the greeting was stamped on a die from the Blueprints 20.  The center strip was dry embossed.

MFT Camp Create

It's time again for the My Favorite Things Camp Create week.
Print

Print

For the first project, foiling, I created a graduation card.

To create the starry sky background I used Color Burst water color powders after spritzing water color paper with water, once it dryed, I added additional drops of water.  The stars were cut out of Gold Foil Cardstock, using the Die-namics Stacking Stars and Die-namics Pierced Star STAX.   The word 'stars' was cut out with Die-namics Count the Stars, with the first part of the greeting from the stamp set of the same name, and mounted on a dry embossed strip.

Print

For the second card, coloring on Kraft, I made a thank you card.

I heat embossed the MFT Scribble Roses in white and colored them all with a white Prisma pencil before coloring them with again with color pencils, the white pencil seems to make the colors brighter.  I added a greeting from the Die-namics Words of Gratitude and white dots made with a gel pen.

Print

For the third card, Inlaid, I made a birthday card with my new MFT stencil and dies.

I stenciled the balloons with the Big Balloons stencil and inlaid the birthday greeting with the Die-namics Happy Birthday.  The background was dry embossed and I added a paper clip from the Die-namics Office Supplies set.

Print

The fourth challenge is to use masking on a card, and I also used this week's MFT sketch 289.

I did a lot of masking for my inlaid card of balloons, so for this one I masked off the girl so I could stamp the MFT Linen Background on her hat.  I used the MFT BB Sunflower Sweetheart stamp set and die-namics and colored her with copics and paper pieced her dress.  The background was stamped in Sweet Tooth with the Writing Tablet Background on Kraft.

Print

Here's my fifth and final card for MFT Camp Create, create a background for a card.

To create this card, I used the leaf from the MFT Prehistoric Fun set and the acorn from the Forest Fun set, the deer and greeting are also from the Forest Fun set.  I colored the images with white Prisma pencil and then followed that with colored Prismas and some white gel pen dots.  The deer was colored with copic markers.  I cut through my acorn background with a  Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner die-namic and raised that panel with foam tape, then raised a smaller fishtail die-namic that was stamped with the Gingham Background and placed it in the middle with the deer on top, giving it lots of dimension.  The greeting was stamped on a banner from the MFT Blueprints 20.

Thanks to My Favorite Things for all of the fun challenges!

Blessings,
DJ

My Favorite Things Color Challenge

I'm sneaking in on the My Favorite Things color challenge 48.

My Favorite Things Camp Create- Days 4-5

Print

Day 4 of the My Favorite Things Camp Create is Die Cutting.

All the cards I make would qualify for a die cutting challenge, I love layers! For this one I happily water colored up this sweet pig and scenery from the MFT Hog Heaven stamp set, cut out with the matching die-namics.  I gave dimension to some of the pieces with foam tape and created designer paper with the MFT Gingham and Bundles of Blossoms background stamps.

Print

The final challenge is to make a shaker card, I was a bit intimidated, but willing to give it a try!

Once again I chose to use the MFT Hog Heaven stamp set and die-namics, water colored with markers.  I cut out a heart from the stitched fishtail die-namics to create my shaker card.  All of the die cuts were made with MFT die-namics

My Favorite Things Camp Create - Days 1-3

Print

I'm having tons of fun this week participating in MFT's Camp Create, a new challenge each day! The schedule looks like this:

Print

For my Glitzy Glitter card, I used the MFT Flashy Florals stamps and die-namics.

I dry embossed the peachy paper from the MFT Homespun Gingham paper pack, stamping the card base with the MFT Myrad Dot BG stamp.  I cut out the Flashy Florals with the matching die-namics and inked them with MFT ink pads, adding glitter to the centers.  I gave a few of the flowers dimension with foam tape and added a scalloped border with the MFT Stitched Scallop Edges die-namics.

Print

For day two, we're creating slider card.  I love these MFT Gnomes and found the perfect one to make a peekaboo card.

I created my own plaid background using the MFT Plaid Background Builder stamps.  I water colored the main scene background and spritzed with water.  I made the slot for the sliding gnome and used the negative die in the background so the slot is less noticable.

After coloring my images from the MFT You Gnome Me set with copics and cutting them out, I attached an arrow from the Blueprints 28 die-namics to the gnome so that he can jump out and surprise you!  Watch this video from MFT for directions on making a slider card.

All of my favorite details were made with MFT die-namics;
Matt: Inside & Out Diagonal Stitched Square
Grass: Grassy Fields
Sun: Sunny Skies

Print

One more card today for the Camp Create Water Color challenge.

I used water color paper and cut out my rectangle with the Stitched Rectangle die-namics and covered it with a light water color wash.  The birches are from the Birch Tree die-namics and the critter and greeting are from the MFT Forest Friends stamp set.  I love making my own pattern paper with MFT background stamps and here I used the Harlequin Background and Gingham Background (my all time fav!).

Here's a closeup of my critter, all of the dies used are MFT die-namics.

Print

That's all for today, but hopefully I can complete all of the challenges and will be back to post them in the next day or two.

Blessings,
DJ
