Hydrangea Wreath

Hi!
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!  Just a reminder that I've made the semi-finals of the Heartfelt Creations Design Team Call.  If you like my creations  (Darla Rants), please vote for me Here, so I can make it to the finals, voting ends on March 9, 2018.

My card today is for the SCS Inspiration Challenge.

24" Hydrangea and Magnolia Leaf Wreath

Here is the wreath I chose as my inspiration, it really spoke to me since I have only used the Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilac blossom stamps to create lilacs, but they're also perfect as hydrangea blossoms.

I not only love the wreath, but the wonderful wood background, so I selected this wood grain paper from the HFC Winter's Eve Paper Pad, distressed it and added the large die from the HFC Sweetheart Borders Die set cut out of white card stock.

The blossoms are from the HFC Lush Lilac Cling Stamp and die sets and were stamped in MFT Sour Apple and Memento Summer Sky, all of the centers were sponged with Summer Sky and the outer edges of the green ones were sponged with Sour Apple, they were cut out with the Lush Lilac Die and sculpted with the 3D Lush Lilac Shaping Mold.  Blue prills were added to all of the blossom centers and they were sponged with glue and covered with HFC Rajni Chawla's Crystal Clear Glitter.  The leaves were created with the HFC Classic Rose Cling Stamp and Die sets and the 3D Rose Sculpting Mold.  The banner from the HFC Banners of Love was sponged with ink and layered over the wreath.

Blessings,
Darla

Butterflies & Lilacs

Happy Friday!
I am so excited to have been selected as a semifinalist in the Heartfelt Creations Design Team Member Call, if you like my creations, please vote for me by clicking here, voting ends March 9, 2018.

The card for today was made for the SCS Free 4 All - Recycle challenge.

My recycled item was a piece of corrugated cardboard that came in a shipping box.  I started with paper from the Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilac Paper Collection, the sentiment is also from this pad.  All the pieces were distressed and the background was folded at the corner to reveal another paper underneath.  The butterfly oval was cut out of the rectangle piece and glued to the top of the corrugated cardboard, while a die cut from the doily in the HFC Festive Holiday Die set was cut out in lime colored card stock and layered underneath.

The free form lilac was made with the HFC Lush Lilac Cling Stamp and Die sets, stamped, sponged with Wilted Violet Distress Ink, cut out with corresponding die, and sculpted with the 3D Lush Lilac Shaping Mold. Prills were added to the center of each blossom, and all were sponged with glue and covered in HFC Rajni Chawla's Crystal Clear Glitter.  See the black lace border peaking out from the corrugated cardboard?  That's a die cut made with the HFC Sweetheart Borders Die.

The butterfly is from the HFC Botanical Wings Cling Stamp and Dies and it was also sponged with Wilted Violet and detailed with Stickles.

Cathedral Shaker Window

Happy Thursday!
The SCS Ways to Use It Challenge is to make a Shaker Card.

For my card today, I used the new Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilac Paper Collection, one panel for the background and another piece for the back of my shaker window.  The background was distressed and layered on black over a die from the HFC Sweetheart Borders Dies cut out in white card stock.  The upper flower sprays were made with the HFC Lush Lilac set

The window was cut out in black card stock from the HFC Botanic Window Die and a shaker made with this tutorial, and filled with glitter and sequins.  I admit shaker cards are not my strong suit, I end up with a lot more glitter on me than in the shaker!

The watering can is from the Lush Lilac Watering Can Cling Stamp set and I added blossoms from the HFC Lush Lilac and Rain Boots & Blossoms Cling stamp sets, the blossoms were sculpted from with the HFC 3D Lush Lilac Shaping Mold and prills and glitter added to each. The upper flower sprays were also made with the HFC Lush Lilac set and a couple extra blossoms added to each.

Blessings,
DJ

Heartfelt Creations Design Team Call

Hi Friends!
I'm so excited to announce that I made it to the semifinals in the Heartfelt Creations Design Team search. If you like my creations, please take a minute to vote for me by clicking Here, the voting ends on March 9, 2018.  I would greatly appreciate your votes and would love the chance to create beautiful projects with you!

Turquoise Roses

My first project is a card created with the Heartfelt Creations Classic Rose Stamps and Dies.  The background was created with paper from the HFC Blushing Rose Paper Collection, I added the Sweetheart Border Die cut out with black card stock along the bottom.  A lovely scalloped heart was added, made with the Eyelet Heart Dies and more of the Blushing Rose paper, teal card stock, with the scalloped hearts cut out in black card stock, the smallest heart was lifted with foam tape for more dimension.

Roses from the Classic Rose Cling Stamps were stamped in teal and sponged with soft green and teal inks, then cut out and sculpted with the 3D Rose Shaping Tool.  Finally, the roses were sponged with Dries Clear Adhesive and sprinkled with lots of Rajni Chawla's Crystal Clear Glitter.

Other Supplies:

SU Bermuda Bay Dye Ink, MFT Limelight Dye Ink, white 100lb card stock, teal card stock

Lilac Candy Tin

My second project is a candy tin decorated with the HFC Lush Lilac Collection papers and flowers, and Camelia Carnation Collection flowers.

One of the very special things about my hometown is that we have our very own candy factory, how special is that?!   I started with my candy tin and added my favorite paper from the new Lush Lilac Paper Pad.

The tin was larger than 12 inches, so I cut an extra cut piece out to cover the remainder.

Three lilacs from the Lush Lilac Collection were added, each stamped in black ink and sponged with ink.  The small flowers were stamped and cut out with the Lush Lilac Cling Stamp and Dies in Color Box Wisteria, then sponged with Lilac Posies and Wisteria, prills added to the centers and then they were glued onto the large lilac.

Two of the lilacs were added on a Sweetheart Border Die cut out of white card stock.

I had so much fun taking the 'How to Shape and Create Elegant Ruffled Carnations 8 Different Ways' class live with Emma Lou on the Heartfelt Creations website.  These beautiful carnations were made during the class, stamped with MFT Lavender Fields dye ink and sponged with Lilac Posies and the Lavender Fields, sculpted with the 3D Floral Basics Shaping Mold, glitter was also added to these.  Around the carnations are small flowers from the Lush Lilac Cling Stamp Set, they were colored with ink pads and a Dove Blender and more of the small lilac blossoms added for dimension, I also added a couple Classic Rose leaves and a doily made with Raindrops on Roses round die.

Here I've added the scroll from the Sweet Lilac Scroll & Notes set, it was sponged with ink and more of the small lilac blossoms added, stamped with the Sweet Day sentiment from the same set.  You'll notice the sprigs of flowers in the background, they were made with the Rain Boots & Blossoms set

tin with lid

Coral Lily Bouquet

For my final card, I created a bouquet with coral Sunrise Lilies and flowers from the Rain Boots & Blossoms set. The background is paper from the Under the Sea Paper Collection matted on black on coral card stock.  The oval doily was made with the Decorative Oval Die and the scalloped oval was made with the Eyelet Oval Basics dies cut in black card stock.

The Sunrise Lilies were stamped in Color Box Rose Coral and sponged with Memento Bamboo Leaves and Rose Coral, then cut out with matching dies.  The stamens were cut out in black card stock and green prills added.  The flowers were sponged with glue and covered in Rajni Chawla's Crystal Clear Glitter.  The flowers from the Rain Boots & Blossoms were sponged and added around the lilies and the smallest carnations in the Small Camelia Carnation set were sculpted and pale yellow stamens were added to the bouquet, as well.

To finish it off, a banner from the Young at Heart Cling Stamp and Die was sponged and added.

Strawberry Roses

The SCS Ways to Use it Challenge is - Love is in the Air.

The background was created with paper from the Heartfelt Creations Classic Rose Paper Collection, the large lace piece cut out with the HFC Sweetheart Borders Die.

The heart layers were cut out with the HFC Eyelet Hearts dies and some of the layers lifted with foam tape, the sentiment is from the HFC Heartfelt Love Sentiments and was stamped on an arrow die from the HFC Cut Mat Create 1B die set.

The roses and leaves were stamped and cut out with the HFC Classic Rose stamps and dies, sponged with SU Strawberry Slush ink and SU Summer Sun, and Momento Bamboo Leaves then sculpted with the HFC 3D Rose Shaping Mold and lots of glitter added.

Celebrating Flowers

The SCS Color Challenge Colors are:
Night of Navy
Powder Pink
and Lemon Lime Twist
with the dessert of floral

I'm sad to say that today is my last day as a guest designer on the SCS Color Challenge!  I've had a great time with every one of the challenges, and this one was no different!

I started with designer paper from the Heartfelt Creations Heartfelt Love Paper Collection.  An arrow die from the HFC Everyday Heros die set (retired) was dry embossed and sponged with Powder Pink ink, cut in half and added under ovals and scalloped ovals cut with the HFC Oval & Basics large and small dies.  The smallest oval was cut with paper from retired HFC designer paper.

The sentiment was stamped on another arrow die and is from the Heartfelt Sentiments set.  The roses and leaves are from the HFC Classic Rose stamp and die sets and were sponged with green and pink and sculpted with the 3d Rose Shaping Mold, then covered in clear glitter.

I had the roses placed in my arrangement, but wanted more of the navy color, so I created the smaller flowers from the HFC Rain Boots and Blossoms stamp and die sets.

Blessings,
DJ

Lilac Sparkle

The SCS Color Challenge colors this week are:

dapper denim

The background papers and sentiment are from Heartfelt Creations paper pads and were distressed.  The lace border was created by cutting up the HFC Arianna Lace Die apart and adding the pieces around the edge to make a square doily.  Each of the designer paper layers were matted with black card stock and the bird cage from the HFC Sweet Lilac Scroll & Cage Die set was added.

The large and small lilacs from the HFC Lush Lilac and the HFC Lush Lilac & Umbrella Spray sets were stamped in black and sponged in Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist, then covered with blossoms from the Lush Lilac set.  Green prills were added to the centers of the blossoms and the lilacs and cage were sponged with glue and covered with Rajni Chawla's Frosting Powder.

Many Thank Ewes

Hi All!

I'm playing along with the MFT Creative Olympics, Event #4 Speed Cardmaking.  See more details below.

For my 20 minute card making session, I pulled out my favorite go to colors, MFT Tickled Pink, Whip Cream, and Grout Gray. My sweet lambs from the MFT Ewe and Me Forever set, are great for fast coloring, just a couple Copic markers for highlighting.  The background was cut out with a MFT Die-namics stitched rectangle and stamped in Tickled Pink with the MFT Floral Fantasy Background stamp.

The Speed Cardmaking event will push your creative limits to the edge and deliver speed and resilience that you didn't even know you had! Grab your phone, set your stove timer or have one of you family members watch the clock - you have exactly 20 minutes to complete a card from start to finish. It can be any theme and use any MFT products - this event is all about speed.

Blessings,
DJ

All My Heart

Howdy!
I'm playing along with the MFT Creative Olympics, Event #3 -Crafty Biathlon.  See more details below.

For my biathlon card, I used the emboss resist method with this MFT heart background and make a shaker card with the Die-namics Heart Shaker Window & Frame with the MFT Heart Shaker Pouch.
I colored the MFT Luv You My Heart stamp with copics and stamped a sentiment from the same set on a small MFT die.

The Crafty Biathlon tests your ability to adapt to obstacles and excel in multiple challenges simultaneously. Below you’ll find two columns – one representing a technique and the other, a type of card. Your challenge is to select one option from each column and combine into one fabulous card!

Blessings,
DJ

Stay Warm

Greetings!
I'm playing along with the MFT Creative Olympics, Event #2 Freestyle Card, see more details below.

For my Freestyle Winter Card, I used the MFT Cool Day stamp set.  The background was stamped with the MFT Circle Scribbles Background stamp on a white card stock cut with the Die-namics Stitched Mod Rectangle Stax.  Images colored with Copic markers.

The Freestyle Event will allow you to take your creativity wherever it leads you. Create one card in any style with one exception -  it has to have a winter theme!
