Follow the Star

The Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers this week is:

Soft Sky
Marina Mist
and Daffodil Delight

I love my Penny Black nativity and color it up every chance I get.  The color challenge fit it perfectly, although almost any color challenge would probably work.  I heat embossed the image and water colored it with  Stampin Up markers, it's so fun to have the markers because they match the challenge colors exactly.
The background dp was dry embossed, I added a Magnolia lace border and a Spellbinder tag tied with sheer ribbon.

Inside of card.

Stamps: Penny Black - From Bethlehem, Sweet n Sassy Stamps - We Three Kings Clear Stamp Set (sentiments).
Accessories: Magnolia lace border die, My Favorite Things Die-namics (Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stax, Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner Stax, Double Stitched Rectangle Stax, Circle stax), embossing folder, Spellbinder tag die, sheer ribbon, heat embossing, SU markers.

HO3

I'm bringing a card today for the My Favorite Things sketch challenge 247.
I've been making a lot of scenes with my MFT stamps lately, so fun and I love to color.  For the sketch, I placed the Die-namics Stitched Coverup Companion- Vertical which I had stamped with the MFT Diagonal Stripe BG over designer paper and added a scallop border with the Stitched Scallop Edge die, the images are from the MFT Jingle all the Way set and were colored with Copic markers.

I raised the images with foam tape and added two buttons made with the MFT Button Quartet dies.

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Jingle All the Way, Diagonal Stripe BG

Cozy Mittens

I'm participating today in the Splitcoaststampers New Technique challenge found here.

The challenge was to accent dry embossing with a white pen.  My white pen seems to be on it's last legs, so I kept my embossed piece small and used stitch lines.  The background was stamped with the MFT Sweater Stitch BG and cut with the Die-namics Blueprints 14 curved corner die.  I added  a MFT Stitched Scallop Edges die and the MFT Cozy Mittens stamp set.
Stamps: My Favorite Things - Cozy Mittens, Sweater Stitch BG
Accessories MFT Die-namics (Blueprints 14, Cozy Mittens, Stitched Scallop Edges, Blueprints 18 - flag die), white pen, enamel dots.
Paper: Stampin Up - Taken with Teal, Cucumber Crush.

Season's Greetings

I'm joining the inspiration challenge this week at Splitcoaststampers, you can find my inspiration here, and the challenge here. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make a masculine card or a Christmas card, but finding the snowflake and button already in my scrap pile from another project, sealed the deal and I went with Christmas and added more green details to go with the button.

I've been waiting for a chance to use my new Stampin Up birch tree embossing folder, so this hit the spot.  The backgrounds were dry embossed and sponged and I added the deer and cardinal from the Taylored Expressions Birch Tree Accessories die set and Band It die set, the Frame was made with the My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Frames Die-namics with the MFT Stiched Scalloped Edges along the side, the snowflake, button & twine are also by MFT.

Stamps: Taylored Expressions - Labels of Love II, My Favorite Things - Diagonal Stripes BG
Accessories: TE Birch Tree Accessories and Band it, My Favorite Things Die-namics (Stitched Rectangle Frames, Let it Snowflake, Stitched Scallop Edges, Button Quartet), Stampin Up - Birch Embossing folder, foam tape, embossing folder, MFT twine.

The Lord Goes Before You

I'm joining in three challenges today, the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge, and the Splitcoaststampers Ways to Use It - punctuation, and Free for All - newsprint challenges.

I'm so excited with my card today, I wish you could see it in person!
For the background I distressed and sponged a piece of script dp.  I cut a circle in the chocolate layer with a Spellbinder die, and I love the look of tooled leather, so I inked a flowered embossing folder to give my chocolate cardstock that leather look (It's also a great way to get flowers on a guy card!)  I decided to raise this panel so I applied it to my card with foam tape.

The ODBD moose was also stamped in chocolate ink, sponged and cut out with a smaller circle, along with a chocolate matt,  so you can see the script dp beneath.  The moose panel was also raised with foam tape.

I sponged this beautiful verse from the ODBD Scripture Collection 10 stamp set and added enamel dots.  It's hard finding a masculine border, and I was excited to see that the border die in the ODBD Cathedral Window & Border die set fit with the card perfectly.
Here's the photo for the ODBDSLC challenge this week.

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs- Father's Day, Scripture Collection 10.
Accessories: ODBD Cathedral Window &Border dies, Spellbinder circle dies, enamel dies, embossing folder, foam tape

Harvest Pumpkin

I'm participating in the MFT sketch 246 challenge, as well as the Splitcoaststampers Free 4 All challenge to add a pumpkin.
I used a water color background that I made the other day by dripping re inkers on wet water color paper and cut it out with the Die-namics Cross-Stitch Circle Stax.  The matt was cut out of MFT Jellybean Green with the Blueprints 8 stitched square and stamped with the Gingham BG stamp.  I colored this adorable Pure Innocence Thankful Friend image with Copics and added some of the leaves that come with her Die-namics dies and added a couple of pumpkins from the MFT Harvest Mouse set.

Sweet Bouquet

I'm taking a tiny break from making scenes with my My Favorite Things Birdie Brown stamp sets to play with my MFT Modern Blooms set in the MFT Color challenge 29.
I've been playing around with water color techniques and today I used the colors in the challenge: Daffodil, Razzle Berry, Blu Raspberry and Tickled Pink, using the pads to apply color to my work surface and spritzing with water, then laying the water color paper on top.  The first papers are more intense in color and I used those to cut out the flowers with the MFT Die-namics Modern Blooms, while the ink paled after a few uses and these make great backgrounds.  The  Razzle Berry background was made with the MFT Die-namics Blueprint 26 stamped with the MFT Harlequin BG, the lace is from Blueprints 6, and the tag and bug are from the Die-namics Mason Jar set. The flower wrapping was cut free hand from striped velum.

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Modern Blooms, Harlequin BG, and Birthday Bears (greeting).
Other supplies: MFT twine, foam tape.
Paper: MFT Razzle Berry and Whip Cream, velum, Recollections Black, water color paper.

I Pick You!

I have two cards that I made today, the first is for the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar challenge, I'm bringing my fifth and final card, the challenge has been so much fun, I'm already feeling the let down that I can't make more cards for it!  Both cards are made with the new MFT Birdie Brown Harvest Mouse set.

I have seen some beautiful water color techniques lately and  decided to give it a try, for this one I used 3 MFT ink pads: Sno Cone, Tangy Orange, and Jellybean Green and wiped them on wax paper in a row then spritzed with water and put my water color paper on top.  The problem I found with the wax paper, is that the ink eventually came through, so next time I will use a better surface, but I was very happy with the results and it goes perfectly with my MFT Chocolate and Tangy Orange cardstock.  I cute out the background with my old standby, the stitched square from the MFT Die-namics Blueprints 8 and stamped with the MFT Gingham BG.

All this sweetness and cuteness was colored with Copic markers, cute out with the BB Harvest Mouse Die-namics and raised with foam tape.

The tag was made with the medium die in the Die-namics Stitched Fishtail Frames set, the inside piece was cut in water color paper, and I added a couple leaves from the Die-namics Falling Leaves set, tied with a MFT twine bow.

Here's the inside of the card, I used the largest die from the new Fishtail Frames set.

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Birdie Brown Harvest Mouse set, Gingham BG.
Other supplies: MFT twine, foam tape, Copic markers.
Ink:  MFT (Tangy Orange, Sno Cone, Jellybean Green, Hybrid Black Licorice).
Paper: MFT Tangy Orange and Chocolate, Recollections Black, water color paper.

For the second card, I participated in the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoaststampers, our FS is Ann who has a wonderful gallery who is so creative, I chose this card of hers to CAS, it reminded me of the MFT Die-namics Stitched Cover-Up Companion Vertical, which I hadn't had a chance to use yet.

I chose MFT Jellybean Green and Persimmon cardstock for this one and stamped the bg with the MFT Garden Flourish BG, the Stitched Cover-Up was stamped with the MFT Fine Check BG, and of course, there's a water color background made with the same technique as above, adding some MFT Lavender Fields dye ink for the sky.

Once again all of the critters were colored with Copic markers.

Inside of card stamped with the MFT Garden Flourish BG.

Stamps: My Favorite Things - BB Harvest Mouse, Garden Flourish BG, Fine Check BG.
Other Accessories: foam tape, Copic markers, MFT twine.
Paper: MFT Jellybean Green and Persimmon, water color paper.
Ink: All of the ink listed above for the first card and MFT Persimmon and Lavender Fields.

I've been waiting impatiently for my new My Favorite Things goodies to arrive and today I get to play with them! I'm making this one for the Card Design Superstar challenge over at My Favorite Things and for this week's MFT sketch MFTWSC245.

For my french pastry card, I cut out the frame in Blu Raspberry with the Die-namics Blueprints 8 stitched square, using the Die-namics Inside & Out Stitched Rounded Square Stax for the inside of the frame and stamped it with the MFT Garden Flourish BG,  the inside square was also cut out with the Inside & Out square and stenciled with the MFT English Brick stencil in MFT Grout Grey and Steel Blue Ink. I colored the Sweetie and her sweets with Copic markers and stamped the street light in MFT Steele Grey.  I cut out the MFT Boutique window in Blu Raspberry and Primitive Cream and added a tag made with Die-namics Blueprints 2 and tied with MFT twine.  Foam tape was added to each layer for dimension.

A Good Man

Here's my entry for the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge (ODBDSLC253), a color challenge.

For the color challenge I chose to make a masculine card.  I heat embossed the beautiful mountains from the ODBD Keep Climbing stamp set twice and water colored with markers.  I added a couple embossed layers and two spellbinders dies that are layered behind the scripture verse.  The banner die is from the ODBD Pennant Dies Set and was stamped with the Father stamp from the ODBD Father's Day stamp set.

Stay Warm

For today's Ways to Use it challenge at Splitcoaststampers, we're to make a tea or coffee themed card, check out the challenge here.

For my beverage, I chose this warm cup of love (probably a caramel latte) held by my My Favorite Things Bear from the Cool Day stamp set.  I combined MFT Kraft, Whip Cream and Field Day cardstock with lots of layers.  The Kraft bg was embossed after being cut out with the MFT Die-namics Blueprints 8, the Green Chevron layer was made with the new MFT paper pack, Fresh Squeezed Chevron and Die-namics Blueprints 14.  The scallop edge was made with the Stitched Scallop Edge Die-namics and I layered a Stitched Fishtail banner on top stamped with the MFT Sweater Stitch BG in Kraft ink.  The bear was stamped on water color paper and colored with copic markers.

Stamps: My Favorite Things Cool Day, Sweater Stitch BG
MFT Accessories: Die-namics - (Blueprints 8, Blueprints 14, Blueprints24,  Cool Day, Button Quartet, Let It Snowflake, Stitched, Stitched Scallop Edges, twine.

Life is a Journey

I created a card today for the Splitcoaststampers sketch.

I had embossed this Papertrey Ink image with a blooper in the middle, so I laughed when I saw the sketch, which has the sentiment across the middle.  I colored the flowers and fixed the missing ink with a black pen, then attached the sentiment on velum with pink brads.

Stamps: Papertrey Ink - Year of Flowers Gladiolus Stamp set, My Favorite Things - Garden Flourish BG

Accessories: MFT Die-namics Blueprints 8, brads, enamel dots, heat embossing

Paper: water color, SU (Strawberry Slush, Cantelope), Reflections Black, velum.

For my card, I water colored these adorable Taylored Expressions zinnias with Stampin Up markers, as well as Samantha, my female Ragdoll cat. The backgrounds were stamped with My Favorite Things Gingham BG, Polka Dot BG, and Fine Cheveron BG.  The Greeting was stamped on the TE Band It dies and I popped it and the kitty up with foam tape.

Hay There!

I'm participating in the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar challenge, find the details here.

I'm coming in with another fun card using lots of My Favorite Things!  For the background I cut a stitched square from the Die-namics Blueprints 8 set in the color Field Day and stamped it with Gingham BG, I stamped the matt with the Burlap BG on Berrylicious  and cut out the matt with the Inside & Out Diagonal Stitched Square STAX, and attached them with foam tape to my card base.  The scene was created on water color paper with a water colored sky and paper pieced pastures using the Rolling Hills, Stitched Snow Drifts and Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics with scraps of designer paper. I paper pieced my sweet cowgirl's hat and shirt so that I could add texture.  For the hat, I colored it with Copics and then stamped it with the Burlap BG in Kraft ink, the shirt I stamped in Berrylicious with the Cheesecloth BG for a subtle pattern. The cowgirl is from the BB Green Pastures set and the rest of the images are from the BB The Whole Herd. The greeting is placed on a tag from the Blueprints 13 Die-namics set.  All of the cut out pieces were raised with foam tape.

Paper: MFT (Field Day, Banana Split, Berrylicious) Water color Paper, designer paper scraps.

Accessories: foam tape, Copic markers.
